Let the Nesting Begin...

So a couple of weeks ago, we started to receive some gifts for the baby (wow – we have the most amazing family and friends). And I had this urge to make some room in the house and start on preparing the nursery while I have all this energy. For those of you who have never been to our house (everyone has an open invite by the way – we love visitors), we have four bedrooms. This sounds like a lot for two people. But when you consider I use one of them as an office/storage for my business, Dan uses one for a music/computer room, and we have a guest room… that means one of these rooms goes when little Baby B comes along. So, we are converting my office/storage space into the nursery. It’s the closest to our bedroom, so it makes the most sense. It also has the most stuff. So I planned to spend Saturday cleaning out the room and couldn’t wait to organize all the baby things in their proper place.
Well, I may have underestimated the effort just a bit… we are talking years and years of keepsakes – everything from movie tickets to every greeting card ever given to us – I may even have some valentine’s from second grade stashed in there somewhere. Needless to say, this effort took a little longer than expected. I tried to force myself to purge as much as I could but it is soooo hard – how does one do it? I need some tips, because I think at the end of the day I had basically just reorganized all the same stuff.
Ten hours later, I am happy to report that I was able to clear out...the closet. I still have the entire rest of the room to do, but this is a start. At least we now have a small place to put her things for a while until I can clear out the rest of the room and find homes for these long lost treasures.
And this makes me happy:

Just looking at all these cute little outfits – I am in big trouble. We are only 5 months in, and I am already addicted to tiny baby dresses. To be fair, many of these came from clothes I had bought for my goddaughter, Rocklynn, that were too small for her by the time I was going to give them to her... so, naturally I saved them in the off chance that one day I might just have a little girl of my own to spoil with these adorable fashions. And my dream is coming true! Others are special pieces we've picked up along the way during our travels... a Penn State super soft bunting set, a onesie from the Rolling Stones concert, etc. just so she knows we have dreamed of her for years, even before she existed.
P.S. Ignore the rest of the closet - we will need to rebuild with new shelving, paint, etc. - can't wait to design it...any ideas are welcome!
